taking the sejours wall down |
What a morning! Jerry and I arrived at the Ruin about 8:45. Everyone was already there and it was incredible! David and his crew were in the process of taking down a wall in the Sejours, Justin was unloading his stuff to start building the closet wall and bathroom wall and Jean Louis was taking out the rubble where the chimney had collapsed and ruined the ceiling in the salon. Racket?…you betcha! Dust and debris?…Oh Yeah! Jake and I didn’t stay very long. We were chauffeured home to do a little cleaning up around the Villa. Jerry headed back to the Ruin so he could “manage” everyone!

David Preparing to take the kitchen wall down |
Jerry came in at lunch and we left immediately for Conforama. He visited their web site last night and redesigned the kitchen. We wanted to see what the cabinets look like up close and personal. We arrived at Conforama at 13:30 and of course they were closed until 14:00 for lunch. I don’t know if we will ever get used to the French lunch hour…12:00 – 14:00. This applies to almost all retail stores, some grocery stores …well just about everyone. Jerry and I slipped into Flunch for lunch. Flunch is a cafeteria and it took us about 10 minutes to figure how it works. It was very crowded and there were sections for entre, dessert, soup, vegetables, bread. It was sorta like Golden Corral but more confusing. Like I have said before Everything has a learning curve…even Lunch! After lunch we headed back to Conforama to look at cabinets. I think we have found what we want…well, Jerry likes them and I think they will be ok. The cabinets look sympathetic to the age of the house. They are going to be too dark, I think, but I can live with that. The cabinet folks there are preparing a devis for us and we should have it this afternoon. Maybe some other cabinet idea will appear cause I really don’t think I like the color of those dark gray cabinets!
